When it is time to get braces children and adults alike are going to groan at the idea of having such noticeable “hardware” in their mouth. The reward for this minor inconvenience is having a better looking smile with properly aligned and straight teeth. Not only will your smile look amazing but you will also reap the health benefits of a proper bite and aligned jaw. Thankfully there are options available for braces that are not as obvious. The one in particular we will talk about is the ceramic braces.
Ceramic braces are very similar to traditional orthodontic braces. They have a bracket, the part that is connected to the tooth and they have a wire that connects all the brackets together. The major difference and popular appeal is that the metal brackets of traditional braces are replaced with ceramic ones.
The ceramic bracket is bigger than its metal brother but that is because the material in a ceramic bracket is not as strong as the metal bracket. Making the ceramic bracket bigger helps to make it more durable. Even though the bracket is bigger people still claim that it is more comfortable on the gums and lips than metal brackets.
The biggest reason one may chose a ceramic brace over other types of braces is because the ceramic material can be colored. They can be bright and fun colors or tooth colored. When someone chooses the tooth colored bracket it blends them better with the teeth and hides them better than having all that glinting metal in your mouth. To go even further the wires can also be tinted to match tooth color to help hide the braces.
With the ceramic option people don’t have to worry as much about what their smile will look like. The ceramic brackets and wire can blend with the teeth making them less noticeable. Wearing ceramic braces is recommended for adults and children that want a more comfortable and a less noticeable option compared to traditional braces.
