Different types of dog runs

A large proportion of runs are made from metal, which is strong and durable even in adverse weather conditions.  One type is a chain link dog run which is easy to assemble yourself and very lightweight, allowing for it to be moved around.  The runs generally come in a single box and all you need to do is set up the tubular supports and then stretch the wire around them.  The door will come ready assembled and can be slotted in wherever you would like it.

Modular dog runs have a pre-set shape and size and are much heavier, making them more difficult to move once they have been put in place.  These runs are much better for heavier or more aggressive dogs or if your dog is to spend a lot of time in his run.  Though these runs are already more expensive than the chain link variety it is still worthwhile investing in a galvanised dog run.  The process of galvanising adds a layer of powdered zinc to the metal which will react with corrosive substances instead of the metal itself.  This means that the run will last much, much longer and won’t rust.

Wooden dog runs tend to come with an integral kennel.  Though the frame of the run is wooden, a wire mesh will be stretched between the struts to allow air and light into the run.  These runs are very good for dogs who will spend their nights outside as it gives them somewhere warm and dry to sleep.
